    Roger.
When I started playing bass in 1970 I was told I played like you. I listened to your playing and realised I did without having heard any of your stuff. Naturally, I listened to your playing and became more like you than before. I still play, I have a 1979 Maton JB4 fretless, no longer on production, and a Maton 2013 JB4 fretted, a reissue but not as good as the originals. Love the new album, as I do all of them. Keep up the great music – old rockers just get better with time, like great wines.

Penblwydd Hapus i ti – Happy Birthday to you Roger! A lifelong fan we spoke briefly after one of the fab Rainbow gigs at Leicester Granby Halls in July 1981. You were leaving in a Porsche and stopped for a chat. I said “Roger, we’re from Wales!” You replied “Cymru am byth!” You played a couple of nights in Cardiff on the following tour which was great! Every best wish.

Dear Mr. Glover, My name is Christina Glaser and i am writing to you as being the girlfriend of a bassist which is playing in a very good Deep Purple tribute band in Germany. For Christmas Adrian got a ticket for your concert in Coburg in June 2026. He is a very big fan of your own playing the bass. Adrian is coming from Rumania. Coming out of a poor family he started to play the bass in a young age and always with a borrowed instrument. He joined the first band in his teens. Since than he developed an amazing way of playing and with such a good given feeling for this instrument. He became one of the best players in his country. Maybe and If there is a way to meet you after the concert i would love to see him meeting his biggest idol after playing this gig in Coburg. I know this question is a big one but me as growing up with your music because my dad was a big fan as well I can’t put in words what this would mean to both of us. From all my heart i wish you and your family and friends some silent friends to the end of the year and all the best. Yours sincerly Christina Glaser

Happy Birthday and thank you for all the music over the years, Deep Purple and otherwise. I understand there could possibly be a new Purple album coming out. I’m eagerly waiting for it. I’m guessing the title could have something to do with the word “mad”. Thanks also for coming to Tampere, Finland next June with Purple.

I saw you many times on stage over the years, and just 10 days ago so you live in Dubai, exuding energy, smiling from ear to ear, energising the crowd, very much being the centre of the band and swinging the bass (a heavy instrument, for those who have never held one) up and down às it it was a toy. Supreme energy and charisma. And 10 days later, he turns 80 years old. Mr Roger David Glover, my all-time favourite bass player, I can’t thank you enough for all the music, all the joy and all the insightful commentary in each and every interview throughout all these years. It feels redundant to thank you after so many people have done just that right above, But today I really have to say you have been for so long such an inspiration to so many of us. Happy birthday, and all the best today and always. And thank you so much.

Thank you for a lifetime of fantastic music!! Rainbow was my favorite band when I was growing up, then when Deep Purple reformed, and I saw you guys play live, Deep Purple has been my favorite ever since. I’ve been fortunate enough to see you play over a dozen times over the years, here in the US and in Copenhagen, and you guys are the best of the best. Have a wonderful birthday, and we’ll see you on the next tour!!

    Dear Roger,

What can I say that Erik from Sweden has not mentioned yet?
    He nailed it!
So I send my wishes for you:
Stay healthy and creative and give us some more wonderful music with Deep Purple.
Next year, there will be some gigs in Germany, but too far from my home to get there and return the same day as is would have been possible when you came to Stuttgart, where I met you and Don in 2022 and watched a wonderful open-air gig in 2023.
Love from the southwest of Germany
    Your fan Beate

    Happy 80th Birthday, Roger Glover!
80 years old – and still with more groove in your bass than most of us have in our entire bodies. If anyone proves that rock ’n’ roll keeps you young, it’s you.

Thanks for all the legendary riffs, all the songs that have annoyed our neighbors, and all the times you’ve made us play air-bass like it was a full-time job. The colorful art of deep purple, poetry and witty lyrics. The glue that kept band and songs together.
As promised in neuruppin we hope to read your biography another day
Hope your day is as loud, dynamic, epic, and immortal as a true Deep Purple solo. God bless and
    Keep on rockin’, Roger
